stalling engine?

I have a 1998 Jeep GC 4.0 liter whos battery discharged. When being jumped the engine starts after depressing the gas pedal but as soon as I take my foot off the gas pedal it stalls

check your battery and charging system. The battery may be shot or sulfated and you may not be getting a charge

Replaced the 6 month old battery earlier today. Car started right up/ Thanks

Make sure the alternator is charging the new battery. It can go dead too. Also, keep in mind, the alt can both under charge and over charge.
