the powertrain seems to lurch forward before the van has a chance to catch up when you hit the gas and as it shifts, also there is a vibration in reverse when the brake is applied, is this a bad mount somewere?

Hi:
It sounds like a motor mount. It's easy to check but you must be careful. With the engine running and the hood open, place the vehicle in drive. While holding your left foot securly on the brake give the van a little gas. If the engine lifts doing this in drive or reverse, it's a broken motor mount.

Let me know the results.

Joe
