Depending on how radical the new cam timing is, you may be able to re chip to suit a new grind. i would fit the cam and see how it preforms first.

this is the details on the cam let me know what you think. Fitment: All Ford 240-300 cid. Description: Our 272 degree camshaft has 0.478" of valve lift. this camshaft creates a strong torque curve just off idle until 3,400 RPM, then Peak horsepower is seen around 4,500 RPM. Stick or Automatic transmissions. We recommend the Weber 38 carb kit, 6=8 Intake Manifold, 6=8 headers, SI over-sized valves, head milled .060. Blend the runners, DO NOT PORT MATCH INTAKE/EXHAUST.We need velocity. Our cam kit includes High Lift Springs, Chrome Molly Retainers, HD Valve Locks, Hyd. Lifters & Heat Treated Pushrods. We recommend Cloyes Timing set and Std Rocker Arms.

i would fit the cam and do the recommended changes, and see how it preforms, you will get a better idea then, more than likely you will not have to chip.
