Depending on how radical the new cam timing is, you may be able to re chip to suit a new grind. I would fit the cam and see how it preforms first.
The new cam has.474 of lift. Do you know where I could have that done and about how much would it cost.
This is the details on the cam let me know what you think. Fitment: All Ford 240-300 cid. Description: Our 272 degree camshaft has 0.478" of valve lift. This camshaft creates a strong torque curve just off idle until 3,400 RPM, then Peak horsepower is seen around 4,500 RPM. Stick or Automatic transmissions. We recommend the Weber 38 carb kit, 6=8 Intake Manifold, 6=8 headers, SI over-sized valves, head milled.060. Blend the runners, DO NOT PORT MATCH INTAKE/EXHAUST. We need velocity. Our cam kit includes High Lift Springs, Chrome Molly Retainers, HD Valve Locks, Hyd. Lifters & Heat Treated Pushrods. We recommend Cloyes Timing set and Std Rocker Arms.
This is the cam im gettin I posted the wrong one. Fitment: All Ford 240/300 cid. Description: This is our most popular camshaft here at Clifford Performance. Kit includes: Cam, lifters, springs, retainers, valve locks and pushrods. With 264 degrees of duration and a 0.474" valve lift, this camshaft creates as much as 60 to 80% of the torque curve at idle. Peak torque appears at 3,300 RPM, and peak horsepower occurs at 4,300 RPM. Daily driver, off road, rock climbing or 1/8 mile fun, this is your camshaft. NOTE: Our camshaft will need high lift springs with 110 lbs at the seat. INSTALL HEIGHT 1.700 Please order the 6=8 cam kit or your cam warranty is void. Parts list in the cam kit: 93-3901 Hyd Lifters 91-2911 High Lift Springs 92-3941 Chrome Molly Retainers 92-1821 HD Valve Locks 93-3801 HD Pushrods
I would fit the cam and do the recommended changes, and see how it preforms, you will get a better idea then, more than likely you will not have to chip.
