I have a 1995 dodge Dakota sport with a v8 | 318 | 5.2L & I believe the transmission slip. Its automatic & has 148k miles on it. Just started this last year and since then I have changed the filter in the transmission and the fluid. When its colder generally I wait for not to warm up but that doesn't seem to help anymore. The transmission does a few weird things.
But this is what im concerned about.
Sitting on a hill (foot on break) the rpm will rose from below one to over one and acrt like the car gets stuck in neutral although I'm still on the break. Then when I go to press on the gas I won't go anywhere ill actually start to roll back till I press on the break again. (It does this while driving regularly except the roll back part, I'll be driving or accelerating and the car acts
like it doesn't want to shift into the next gear)

Not much we can do to help you here. Bring it to a reputable tranny shop for diag. Sounds like your clutches, and bands may be slipping.

I wouldnt replace the bands, leave that to a shop. They may find other things wrong also. As far as replacing the trans with a known good used one, thats a cheaper option.
