My 1992 Pontiac Sunbird with a 3.1 litre V6 and MD9 automatic transmission emit a grinding sound when I start the car and then it stalls.

Any Ideas?

The grinding might be a starter/flywheel problem, especially if the starter was replaced and wasn't shimmed properly. Stalling may be due to the throttle plate being gunked up with oil. Clean that with choke cleaner on both sides as well as the idle air valve which is the oblong hole.
