Hi,
I am writing for an honest opinion; I am a 63 year old retired woman; I like many others are feeling the pinch financially; recently my Durango SUV was reposessed bvecause I could no longer afford the $324 mo. Payments. I have a 91 Pontiac Sunbird convertible I had had sitting for about 10 years which I did not use because it needed a new roof and back window. It has about 101K miles on it, put a new battery in it and it runs. When I drove it in the 90s I had repairs, water pump, fuel pump, brakes, radiator, etc. The usual. I am wondering if I should invest the money to replace the top and window and spend the money to see if it needs any major mechanical repairs. The body is A1 and also the interior, just needs cleaning, fairly new tires. Do you think I should spend $$ to get it in shape to drive it or try to sell as is. I really cannot afford a car payment but have no car right now. If you think it would be sensible to restore it, how much maximum should I spend. I appreciate your help and opinion.

I always look at it as this. How much money does it need to be in good shape. THen I compare what I can purchase for that price. Usually it's not much and you never know what you're getting.

Please keep in mind, sitting is the worst thing you can do, so add some extra money for unexpected repairs. If you decide to sell it and are not too far, let me know. I'm looking for a car for my son.
