Just had new motor and transmission put in a couple months ago - was driving down the street and suddenly stopped shifting gears - will sometimes go into reverse put not drive

Sounds like either a front pump failure or a torque converter failure.

Is this a new trans or a used trans? Do you have warranty?
Did you check the fluid level?
