MIGHT BE THE STARTER ITSELF........

........YES, IT COULD BE THE BATTERY, YOU CAN SNATCH IT NOW.....OR LATER...IF NEED-BE.......BUT DO THIS BEFORE YOU START RIPPING YOUR HAIR OUT!

TAKE IT TO A POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORE, FOR THOROUGH TESTING.....MOST OF THE TIME THIS IS A FREE SERVICE

..........LET'S REALLY TRY THIS 1ST....GIVE IT YOUR ALL!.....MOST OF THE TIME, THIS IS IT....SEE MY ANSWER IN THIS LINK...PICS AT THE END

DEPENDING ON YOUR LOCATION....IF THIS STORE (ADVANCE AUTO PARTS) IS AVAILABLE TO YOU..."A124" WAS STILL WORKING 2 DAYS AGO....THIS CAN BE DONE RIGHT THERE IN THE PARKING LOT ON YOUR CYBER PHONE......IF YOU NEED A BATTERY ETC.........JUST NOT OILS.....THIS'LL SAVE YOU $$$ BIG TIME!...................THE "METHOD" MAY WORK SIMILARLY AT OTHER STORES TOO

Suspect the neutral safety switch first. To start, bypass the starter relay to see if the starter will crank the engine. You can pop the cover off the relay, install it that way, then squeeze the contact, or you can use a piece of wire or stretched-out paper clip to jump the two terminals in the socket. If your truck uses the 1" cube relays like in my drawing, jump terminals 30 and 87. If you have a manual transmission, be sure it's out of gear. If you have an automatic, be sure it's in park. If the ignition switch is on, the engine will start.

If that works, you can try swapping in a different relay but the next suspect will be the cam on the end of the ignition switch cylinder.
