If check engine light doent come on why wont it start

Noticed when turning key to start check engine light not on engine turns over but wont start changed egnition switch pick-up in distributor new coil tuned up cleaned connections to fuse sometimes it works sometimes it dont

Are you getting spark and fuel to the engine? Will it start with starting fluid?

Yes its getting spark and fuel does the check engine light whatever its connected too make it not start? Sometimes when the key is turned it will fire right up but the check engine light is on.

That comes from the computer. Have you ever checked to see if there are trouble codes stored?

Thanks for all your help with my question there was no code but we did find out that it was the computer we replaced it with a new one and it worked!
