Cranks but wont start

I have a 92 dodge dakota v6 that is having starting problems. It cranks but wont start, did tune up, changed ignition coil, ignition switch, fuel filter, fuel pump. Spark plugs are dry after trying to start but gas is getting to the regulator valve. Wont start with starting fluid. Positive battery terminal gets hot after cranking on it.

Did you check spark? Timing off? What about compression?

How do I check spark or compression, timing chain was replaced by mechanic.
