I just replaced my clutch kit. Finished everything. Started right up. Drove it around clutch pedal seemed to be softer then before. (Not my biggest worries) woke up the next morning. Started right up. Drove to a buddies house. When I tried to start it again. I just hear a clicking noise. Battery gauge drops a little when I try turning it over. Clicking noise sounds like its coming from starter? I tried jumping starter. Sometime would spin sometimes would attempt to start. But never starts. Checked starter relay. I double/triple checked all my work when I replaced my clutch. Made sure all sensors were plugged in. 3 wires to driver side of trans. Tight wires to starter and battery. I had a buddy push me with his truck to try push starting. You can hear the engine start up but wouldn't stay running. Security light would come on till I turn ignition off. Turn it back on and no security light. Any ideas why starter isn't engaging? And/or wont stay running when push starting?

Hi,

That is a good question. The idea that you hear a clicking sound indicates the starter is getting power even though it doesn't turn the engine. If you are certain the battery is charged, good, and the terminals are clean and tight, then we need to check the security system. However, before we do that, I have a few questions.

When you tried to jump start it, did the starter properly engage? Has the engine ever stayed running since this started? I have to be honest, I suspect it is something that is loose, most commonly, a battery terminal.

As far as the security system, try this. Turn the key to the run position and allow it to stay there for about 10 minutes. Any security indicator should turn off. Once it does, see if it will start.

Let me know.
Joe

Terminals are tight. When jump starting it still just clicks. When push starting (its manual) engine starts but doesn't stay running and bogs down when I try hitting gas. Battery is charged security light isn't on it only flashes when I tried to push start my truck engine has not stay running since the first time it wouldn't start. But did run one day after fixing my clutch.

Recheck grounds from the battery. Also, check to make sure everything is tight on the starter. Something is loose and not making proper connection.

Let me know if you find anything.
