Occasionally my Alero does not start and the security light blinks. I know about the 10 minute wait until the light goes out. I have been told that it needs a new ignition because the single key I have is worn. The problem is I don't want to spend 400 plus on a car with 220k on it. My question is: Is there anything I can do or have done that would take the 'security' thing out of the equation?
I spoke to a fellow that did something to his Cavalier involving a couple of wires in the ignition that solved the problem but his security light nows stays on. I would not care about that as long is it would start.
Thanks in advance.

We dont give out information on how to bypass security systems because it could fall into the wrong hands. You could have a bad pass lock sensor in the ignition cylinder assembly. Would have to read the codes in the computer and go from there. You could replace the ignition cylinder yourself and save a lot of money that way. You could get a ignition cylinder for about 108 plus shipping possibly cheaper on ebay.
