I have the vehicle listed above SE model. I turn the key on and get power to everything. Try to start the car and nothing happens. I have replaced the ignition switch, battery, and alternator. I have checked all wires, and all seem to be okay.
Note: when I turn the key to the start, the power to the radio and switches on doors cut off until I turn back to acc mode.
I can turn the key many times and eventually it will catch and start but I have to turn key way too many times.
My next idea is to replace the PCM.
and it’s throwing many codes.
Any input or ideas I may be missing?

Hi,

I'm not sure if you have a 4 or 6-cylinder, so I went with the 4-cylinder.

I attached the wiring schematic below. Chances are it isn't the PCM. If I had to guess, my first suspect would be the totally integrated power module (TIPM).

The TIPM on these vehicles is known to have problems. When they were designed, they put too many small connector pins in each connector (at least that's my theory). As a result, the pins are very small and prone to corrode, break, and lose connection.

I attached two pictures below of the starter wiring schematic. At the starter motor, there will be a yellow wire with a gray tracer. I need you to have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check that wire for power. It should only receive power when the key is in the start position. If you get power and nothing happens, chances are the starter is the problem. If there is no power, we need to check the connectors at the TIPM. I will need to confirm the engine size to get the correct schematics.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,

joe

Hi,

Thanks for letting me know. The schematics I attached are for the 4 cylinder, so they are accurate. Do you feel comfortable performing the tests I suggested?

Let me know.
