Won't turn over

So I feel a little dumb for asking this question casue normally I've gotten by fixing everything myself. But I'm clueless on my problem.

I ran out of gas and found out my fuel gauge is off but after I pushed it to the gas pump, filled it up, jumped in and tryed to start it nothing happens.

I'm guessing it's the starter cause it does make the grinding noise but the was no sign before hand. Just strikes me as odd.

Any ideas?
