Driver and passenger side windows will not go up?

At first the passenger window would only go down but not up! The driver's side was working fine but now this has the same problem, it goes down but not up. I can hear the motor trying to work when pressing down but when I press up, I can’t hear anything, can’t understand why this would happen to both windows! It’s like it needs resetting perhaps.

If you can hear the motor trying to work in mean the window regulator is out which is common, here is a video of the job being done on a similar car for example the process is the same on most cars, and I have included the instructions for your car in the images below.
