I got this weird sound today.
It's the left side of the engine.
Engine code: CTHE 1.4 TSI Twin Charger.

Sound goes away when being around 2k rpm and above.
Sound doesn't go faster or louder as I give revs.

Thanks for the video, it helps. This sounds like it can be the timing belt tension or guide that has gone out or is broken, but to be sure let's remove the drive belt and start the engine up to see if the noise stops. This will let us know if the noise is internal or not, also if you can give us another video of the engine with a slight rev it will tell us a lot. Also please move the camera to the front of the engine. Please let us know what happens.

Hello,

The engine is a Twin charger, it has a turbo and supercharger.
The supercharger is belt driven off the coolant pump pulley, see image 1 below.
As my colleague advised, first remove the main serpentine belt and see if the noise disappears.

A good video showing the belt removal and showing the coolant pump pully:
https://youtu.be/FfjGLkSTXvw

This will separate a possible timing chain issue from an ancillary component driven by the serpentine belt. See layout of timing chain components in image 2.

You could then turn the coolant pump pulley by hand and check if there is any clicking noise coming from the supercharger side. The water pump pulley incorporates a magnetic clutch, like an air conditioner compressor, to activate or deactivate the supercharger. These wear out and could cause a similar noise, see image 3.

See a good video:

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Boris
