Every time I accelerate or decelerate or my car is idling it makes a weird humming noise. It all started when my battery went out and I had to buy a new one and the sound still won’t go away.

Hi,

Can you tell approximately where the sound is coming from? If under the hood, open the hood and make sure the steering fluid is full and see if the sound could be coming from the alternator. Keep everything away from the belt if the engine is running.

If it seems to be the alt, remove the belt and start the engine just for a couple seconds to see if the sound is gone. If it is, then we know it is most likely one of the belt driven accessories.

Do this and let me know what you find.

Joe
