I was driving this afternoon and all of a sudden I felt what was like popcorn popping under my feet when I use my brakes and turn my wheel. What could it be? I can hear it sounding like a crank when I do it too. It’s not hard to turn or break but I’m worried.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Is this only felt in the floor of the vehicle and not the steering wheel? Do you feel it in the brake pedal? Have you checked to see if anything is loose or hanging under the vehicle? If it is loud enough, can you record it and upload it for me to hear?

I know I'm full of questions, but this is a tough one based on the description. Let me know of anything different (other than what is listed) you have noticed. Also, is it speed related or not.

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, I can feel it on the floor the break pedal (when I brake) and the steering. The steering makes a crank like sound when I turn left or right. I did check and nothing is hanging or lose to the ground. The popping sound is inside the car to hear it but not outside yet. I destroyed the rotors and brakes on my moms car and I’m afraid I’m doing the same on this car. I can try to upload a video of the sound in the morning but I don’t think it will work with how faintness it is right now.

If you are feeling it in the steering, it sounds like brake rotors. Let me know if you get the upload.

Take care,
Joe
