Vehicle just came off extended warranty. Low mileage and extremely well kept. All servicing done with Volvo.
A vacuum noise developed when hard accelerating or climbing. Fuel efficiency dropped. Took vehicle to Volvo, and they ssaid the Turbos are failing and need to be replaced. Both of them at a cost of $3800.
This is just one in a long list of major repairs this vehicle has had in its life. Unfortunately for me from the date of purchase. But until now the warranty covered everything.
Can I replace the Turbos myself? Where can I purchase A less expensive set, rather than from Volvo? Are there any instructions available out there for this particular job?

I find it hard to believe you need 2 turbos? Take it to another shop for another opinion. Have them smoke test system for leaks. And trust me on this, if you do need a turbo, it is a very difficult job to do. But have everything smoked in the turbo side for a leaks.
