Do you hear the motor running at all? If you do then the cable guides are damaged and most likely the teeth on the motor are damaged too. If the motor does not function have you had issues with your alarm siren or a message coming on for the alarm needing service? If you do have issues with the alarm siren, the LIN bus is tied together with the siren and Upper Electronic Module so if the siren is faulty the communicaton in the LIN bus will not get to the destination it needs to. What you can do is remove the right front wheel and remove the inner tire well cover to access the siren. Unplug the siren and recheck the sunroof operation. Sometimes unplugging and plugging it back on several times will get the sunroof working just enough to get it close. If that is the case then Volvo needs to replace the siren and reconfigure it to the car. Keep me posted or if that is not case let me know.
