Transmission problem
2001 Volvo S80 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Car sets code P0756 after driven a couple of miles. The valvebody, all solenoids have been changed. The car stays in limp mode as soon as the check transmission light comes on.

There are several possibilities as to why you set that code. Copied this off All Data.

Possible source

The hydraulic valve for solenoid S2 has stuck in the open or closed position.
Defective control system (the solenoid binds or is stuck).
Internal leakage in the transmission.
Warn or damaged clutch driven plates in the transmission.
Fault symptom[s]

General orange warning lamp lit.
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
No shifting.
Harsh gear shifting.
No lock-up function.
HINT: When the transmission control module (TCM) detects disrupted function, "Limp-home" mode is activated and only shift positions 3 and R are available. Lock-up function is also unavailable.

Harsh shifting- due to disabled line pressure solenoid STH control. This results in constant maximum line pressure and leads to harsher shifting and gear engagement.

Most likely problem is that you will need to replace the transmission. What you can try and see if it will work since you replaced the valave body is clear the codes and see if you can have the transmission control module software upgraded. Most likely place will be Volvo but see if you can find an independent shop that specializes in Volvo. Next if software is available or not have the adaptation reset on the transmission control module. The TCM adapts to your driving pattern so if you can have that erased you can start all over. If all that fails then sorry for the bad news but replace the transmission.

I have the exact same problem on S80 2001 - Did the software upgrade work? Or did you have to replace the transmission?
