Electrical problem
2004 Volvo S60 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 61,000 miles

Problems with the mirror started after the mirror was replace. It was replaced by a professional body shop after it was side swipped off the car. It moves to random positions when car is powered up. This happens even if we don't change the seat position. Is it possible to disable any automatic positioning of the mirror. Of course we would want to be able to manually adjust usinf the power switch feature. It seams that the internet is liitered with issues of Volvo power mirrors with a mind of their own. Thanks for any input. Not certain how donation system works. This is my first visit here. Please advise on that also.

Did they replace the whole mirror assembly? Also did they get the part from the dealer or aftermarket?

The part was replaced as an entire assembly. No damage was done to the door. I truely believe it was just mounted and plugged in. Their would not have been any internal wiring issues. It was replaced by the insurance companies authorized repair center. I will have to have to investigate if that is a Volvo part.

IN REGARDS TO THE MIRROR OPERATION, SOMETIMES THERE IS A COMMUNICATION FAILURE IN THE SYSTEM. IF THE PARTS ARE AFTERMARKET, WHICH COULD BE THE ROOT CAUSE, YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF WITH VOLVO PARTS.
