2002 Volvo S40 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

After replacing the steering column in my 2002 S40. I have power to everything and everything works perfect locks, windows, radio but the car won't start and the immobilizer indicator light is flashing. I just wondering if I have to take the new key into the dealer to get reprogrammed or the whole car or can I pull a code from somewhere myself.

Did you also get a different key with the steering column? If so, the immobilizer control module cannot read the security code programmed into the transponder on the different key.

If you still have the old column, exchange the ignition switches, and go back to the old key. Otherwise it's a trip to Volvo.
