Manual transmission won't shift.

I have an '85 volvo wagon that won't shift into gear. It's like it's permanently stuck in neutral. I can even start it without pushing in the clutch. I can also shift it without pushing in the clutch. Nothing happens, clutch or not.

what's wrong?

That really depends on what you do rebuild, replace, volvo, reman after market, I would check around you may find going inside and checking it may reveal something small like a shift fork which is cheap but labor intensive, im sorry to say it will cost either way, if you like the car and want to keep it I would find a manual trans shop and see if you can get and estimate

thanks
jim
