Adding water to the wrong compartment of an engine

While my husband was away, I responded to a 'low coolant' light on the car. It was dark, and I thought that I was puting water into the coolant section. Stupidly, after turning the engine on and hearing it run really rough and checking the manual, I realize that the compartment that I filled with water is actually for the oil.

Sinking feeling in stomach......

How bad is this, is the engine ruined? What do I do now?

Please help!

Get an engine flush go to the quickie lube guys make sure you ask before you go did they tighten up the oil drain plug as specified by the manufacturer and for your sake look under and see for yourself.

If that oil drain plug decides to come loose on its own, you'll be in a world of hurt. So check!

Have a nice day on us :)
