1980 Other Volvo Models

Are there different coils. I was told that I need to know if there is a resistor or not. What happens if I use the wrong Coil. This is on an old boat so disregard MODEL etc. I don't know what it requires. I want to know what the different outcomes may be. Thanks, Carl

Hi Carl,

The difference is that ignition coils with a resistor are used for CB point distributors and if it uses a transistorised distributor, no resistor is required.

Wrong use of coils could result in shorter lifespan and damage to distributor.
