1997 Volvo 960 Check Engine Light indicator On

I had the ODB read. Light is on due high temp. The cooling fan comes on from 1st initial start up although car hasn't been running. How do you reset the temp control on the engine?

What was the error code? P0116, P0117, P0118?

There is no resetting procedures if the fan circuit is malfunctioning. Either the ECT or fan relay is faulty.
