THE CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING (IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONLY IN WET WEATHER). I HAVE ALSO NOTICED IT SEEMS TO BE WHEN DRIVING DOWN A HILL. THE ENGINE STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. EVERYTHING STOPS WORKING. ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER IT JUST CLICKS AND IS DEAD. IT WON'T RESTART. NEW BATTERY HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKS OK. VOLVO DEALER THINKS IT COULD BE THE COMPUTER. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST.

Hi LNOLAN,

Thank you for the donation.

No, I don't think it is the computer. If it is the computer, yu would still be able to crank the engine.

Since it stalls at intermittently, the most likely fault would be the ignition switch. A faulty switch would cut power source to the engine and starter.

Yes, a fauty ignition switch would cause power supply to be disrupted and when this happens, engine would just stop.

When problem occurs, check if the gauges are registering, dash indicators comes on, etc. If no, the switch is the prime suspect.

My car did the same, and it was a sensor that was causing the problem.

Yes, it is possible for the crank angle sensor to cause that as well. But you would be able to crank the engine with no starting. In this case, cranking was not possible.
