1990 Volvo 740 4 cyl Automatic 210000 miles

I started to change the cap and rotor on it as it was running rough and was told my a mechanic to start with a tune up and go from there. When we took off the cap and rotor it appeared they were newer so we put them back on. We thought that maybe the timing order was wrong so we changed it and it started but ran very rough. So we put it back to the way it was before and now it won't start at all. Please help I can't afford to take it to the shop again and I need my car for work.

Thank you VERY much.

Hi,
thanks for answering so quickly, I will try these when I get home tonight but it would seem to me like it must be a loose wire somewhere since it started right up before we started to change it in the first place. I guess I should have not tried to do the tune up myself being a novice. But it saved me about 150 bucks doing it myself.

Well when I got home from work today it seems that trying to start it so many times I have drained the battery. So I am putting in on the charger for the night and will try it again tomorrow. I guess this is why I should leave it to the pros. Or maybe just to the men.

Your luck you have a wife that knows a lot in cars.

By the way, Since you got your battery discharge you might want to check wirings in that part. You might get a problem again.

The firing order doc fix it gave you is wrong. I have 2 1990 740 and a 760. Firing order from passenger side of cap to driver side is 4-3-1-2. That's why it might be running rough.
