Front Seat Removal

How do you remove the front seats from an 02 VW Passat Wagon. I found what looks like a seat spring rolling around the floor of the car and would like to replace it.

I am attaching another possible location of this spring. It is part of the seat recline system. Also, this spring may be part of the seat track so if you get a picture of the spring we may be able to identify it.
