2001 Volkswagen Passat pump and thermo good no circulation

Ive got no circulation even though pump is working impeller good ive tryed bleeding it per the book no good. Thermostate seems not to be working but its been replaced. Is their a hot water valve for the heater core? Can an air bubble stop all circulation

Does the gauge read any temp? No hot air from heater? Overheats? Cooling fan ever come on? Try loosening any hoses you can find to see if coolant comes out or air
