1999 Volkswagen Passat Triptronic

The triptronics will not work when manually shifting the car. It's a 1.8 turbo. Please advise.

I just changed my automatic transmission fluid (must use pentosin at $14 a liter- need 6- and filter. There is a great website covering this- just google it.
VW claims it is a sealed, lifetime trans.- Baloney. It can be done DIY but I paid a local shop the labor- charged me $90. Now have new fluid (as much as can be replaced by draining, removing the pan, replacing the gasket and installing new filter.) Much better. Not totally solved- triptronic isn't right - but much much better.
