1999 Volkswagen Passat Engine misses throughout drive speed

My spark plugs were not gapped right and were black all around. I replaced plugs. My car seems to be missing or pulling as I am accelerating. Its fine when idiling. How do I know when fuel filter is clogged and the fuel pressure regulator needs to be replaced?

How do I know when fuel filter is clogged and the fuel pressure regulator needs to be replaced?

By check the fuel pressure with a gauge before and after the fuel filter and with and w/o vacuum to the regulator
