1999 Volkswagen Passat 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

the car has been sitting for about 10 months, it was running a little crappy till I put some new gas in it and cleaner, it then ran good, the after it sat for a couple of hours the check engine light came on, could it be the coolent is to low?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
