Hi I just bought a Volkswagen Passat v6 and no check engine light is on however it has a small leak of oil coming from somewhere maybe leaks about s quart every 1500 miles or so I only paid 2000 dollars for this car and I knew I was going to have to put money into it but hopefully not over a thousand

Check the easy items first, oil drain plug, oil filter and oil pan. If the oil appears to be coming from the top of the engine, it is most likely the valve cover gasket and camshaft adjuster seal on the back of each cylinder head. This is a fairly labour intensive job.
