Knock sensor location

Hi guys,

I have a VW transporter 1995 2.5 Litre Auto, Engine code AAF. (Petrol)

The problem is that I live in outback Aus, and the nearest VW work shop is over 800KM away. By phone we have determined that the Knock sensor is faulty, now when I tried to order one, there was some confusion as to where it is located so I can describe what type to the spare parts people. My brother has been looking into it for me and he believes that there should be two sensors, they are round and secured with a bolt through the middle, one at No 1 cyl and 1 at No 4 cyl. There are two fittings there as he says, but are these the knock sensors, please help as we need this car to transport a disabled person about

Many thanks,

Mick.

G'Day mick,

The only thing I would add to BMRFIXIT's reply is just check the engine code before ordering, as I have in my engine code book that the 2.5 petrol for your year is a ACU. Engine, this is stamped on the front of the engine block and easy to see. They may be the same sensors, but better to be safe then sorry.

To BMRFIXIT,

Thank you, the picture cleared up any confusion.

To Mark (mhpautos) Thank you, you were correct the engine code IS ACU. And not as I thought. Parts are ordered and will be here with in the week.

Thanks Guys.
