ESP light on

I have a 2003 1.8T GTI VW the mileage is 60,000 and ESP light will turn on as I'm driving. I turn the car off the the light turns off but after a couple of minutes the light turn back on. Please advise thank you.

Is it an ESP light or EPC light? Because if the EPC light is on then you need to replace your brake light switch. Let me know if that helps.
