2000 Jetta Cooling fan

Hi, My 2000 jetta has 220,000 miles and is the base model for that year. The engine cooling fan stays on for a long time and even killed my battery. Is there an amount of time in which it should shut down and do you hane any solutions for me to try? Thanks, Gregg

Yes change the temp sensor! and pray that's it.
