Hello! Yesterday, my windows began to take a life of their own. I have power windows, and if I roll the front window down, it will automatically go back up. I'm not sure why. It doesn't happen to the back windows. Only the front. Any suggestions? I'd rather not pay the outlandish Volkswagen repair prices if I don't have to, obviously. I appreciate your help.

Hello and thanks for the donation!

Does this happen to BOTH front windows? Or just the driver side window? Also, does the window roll back up even if you only roll it down half way or less?

Hello! It happens to both windows, but only when I'm using the driver's side panel to operate them. For instance, if I use the power window button on the passenger side door to roll down the passenger window, then it will operate without a problem. If I use the passenger window on the driver door, then I have the problem. The problem happens no matter how much I roll it down.

Thanks for that additional information.

From what you have described, your problem lies with the master window switch (front driver's side door switch). It has failed, causing power to be going to the "UP" position of the switch even without pushing on the "UP" button itself. Pushing "DOWN" overrides it until you let go, then it goes to "UP" again. I suggest replacing the driver side master window switch.
