Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 90000. Miles

Just recently bought a used Jetta about a month ago.

First sign of a problem was last week it was raining out and my wife went to the store. The epc light came on for a minute while she was having problems starting it up. Eventually it started fine.

2 days ago she went to go out and she drove it a few miles and the epc light came on but this time the car completly shut down and was lucky to pull it over to a gas station. A nice guy came over and helped her out. He asked if she drove in to a water and that was no. He checked the fuse box to make sure nothing was blown. He pulled them out and put them back in and it started fine and she went back home with it.

Any ideas on how we can take care of this and price approximatley. We're short on funds.

This may be a bear to nail down being intermittant.

Price?

This needs to be tested when the problem is happening.

IS this moisture related or just ironic?

My advice is to take it to a trusted shop familiar with VWs. They are their own animal in my book. HAve a tech or the owner use it as a personal vehicle to be able to test it when it happens.
