First I would like to thank those who take the time to answer these questions. I try to pay it forward on a boater web site with my knowledge.

I think I am a victim of bad diagnostics at the volkswagen dealer. Check engine light came on and went off several times. When I brought it in for service it was off, but they downloaded the trouble codes and told me it was carbon build up on the throttle body. Went ahead and had it cleaned out($300). 1-2 days later the check engine light was on and off again several times. This time they said it was the electronic part of the throttle body and I had it replaced at $700. 1 day latter the check engine light was coming on and off again. Brought it back in and after they had the car an entire day rediagnosing, I recieved a call telling me that it was a bad connection/ground that they tighended down. This time no charge.

I am thinking this was the problem all along. Should they have records of what codes they pulled? Do you agree this is fishy?

After almost a month they supplied the codes. The provided me with 3 print outs. They last 2 look doctored. The car data on the page is crooked from the event memory and the date stamps are missing.

Here are the codes.
1st repair P1582 they cleaned throttle body
2nd repair P1579,P1565 they replaced the electronic part of the throttle body.

3rd repair P1579,P1544,P0121 they said loose connection no charge for service

Take a look at what they sent me. The last 2 sheets are crooked like someone developed them. Also one of the date stamps is missing from the 2nd one and all date stamps are missing from the 3rd one. The 006 basic setting part is also missing on the 3rd one and in different palces from the 1st to 2nd one. What do you think????

Basically cut your loses and never go back to them again. They ddi proper procedures for the codes that were listed, but if they found those codes thats a different story.

Wouldnt be worth the court costs.
