1999 Volkswagen Jetta which is it

I have 1999.5 vw jetta the 2000 model the car runs rough when I drive it aaround sometimes it cuts off and wont start right up I would have to wait 45mins to a hour or long to start back up again I was told it was the crank position sensor but I have book for car and cant find it. Pepboys has the part crank position sensor but also has a part called camshaft position sensor I need to know what the propblem is and what is it called thank you

It would be helpful to have the engine size? in liters...
There is a CMP(camshaft position sensor) and an engine speed(RPM) sensor, here's the diagram, RPM sensor is in the same location on all VW engines.
