1999 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Automatic 135000 miles

Hi
I have a Volkswagen Jetta and the other day the check engine light came on. I drove for a couple of days with the light on and today the light went of without doing any work on it. Is there any issue with it that I should get it checked out with a mechanic? Or if it goes on its own was it some minor issue with the check engine light?

When the check engine light comes on and stays on again take it to a local auto part store and ask them to scan your engine light. This will pull up any trouble codes stored, post them here and I can better assist you. There are a lot of things that can cause this light to appear and without having it scanned its pretty much just guessing at what is wrong.
