Hi.I have a 2003 vw gti 1.8t with 90k on it. And the other day I was on the highway and I shifted from 3rd to 4th and my gearbox felt so hard getting it into 4th and then to 5th it was even harder cause it didnt want to get out of gear and then I popped out to nuetral and it was not loose and I slowed down to the point where I could pop it into 2nd I could not find it. And it was so hard. But once the cools down. Its like nothing happened. And everytime I go into 4th or 5th same thing happens and its only those gears to.
what could it be? Needs trans oi? Lubicant?
thank you

Does the shifter go through all the gears properly when not running?
Does the clutch engangement feel normal up until those gears?
Transmission failures are unfortunately common on these cars. First step is to check condition and level of the trans gear oil. There are some high-end lubricants that can improve shift quality of these cars, but you're probably beyond that.
