1998 Volkswagen Golf Headlights switch on and off

My headlights are being erratic! They will turn off for a few seconds and then back on. More prevelant when the high beams are on. There is a click when it happens and occasionally the parking brake dash icon comes on. Seems to happen more when the lights are on for night (dashboard switch on) vs. Just on the running lights.

Need to find the headlight relay in teh power center, check for trigger from the light switch when they dont work. If they go off and come right back on, you may need to have a shop look at it so they can set up some test equipment to see why they do it, might just be the switch, could be a weak relay

It is the plastic switch in the back of the ignition. You have to remove the the colunm to acess it and it is about a 20 min job you go to the bottom of the shaft by the gas pedels and remove the shaft at the nuckel of attachment 10 mm I think. Acessing the little screw in the back is a bear, but have a small long flewable philips and it makes it easer
