1997 Volkswagen Golf reverse gear

Very common failure on these cars. Sometimes checking and topping off the transmission fluid helps, but usually requires a new/rebuilt transmission to solve.

There is a trick to increase line pressure, but the fluid pan needs to be removed and a specialized torx bit is needed to adjust the screw. This is just going to buy more time, as the damage/wear has already been done.
