1997 Volkswagen Golf

Hey if you could help me that would be brilliant, basically my car only in the morning will not start, it just makes no noise, on the third turn of the key (with my foot on the accelerator) it starts up and makes an awful noise, it shudders and shakes and then conks out, then on the fourth go it will start up but I have to accelerate like mad and then finally it starts and wont do it again until the next time its been left off for a couple of hours.
