1996 Volkswagen Golf drain/refill oil

I have golf with a 2000cc motor it is an AGG egine code I am having problems with the gear box. I have replaced the oil cooler due to oil in the coolant. I have been unable to find any where to check/top the ATF fluid. There is no dipstick and no markings on the speedo drive. Please help

There is an inspection plug located on the transmission pan. The ATF temp needs to be between 30-35 C, remove the inspection plug, then fill through the inlet on the front of the trans until fluid drips from the inspection hole. Re-insert inspection plug and replace the cap covering the inlet tube.
