Turning the key does not engage the starter, the interiour lights come on and the horn sounds but it wont start any ideas where I should begin?

Sounds like you may have a bad starter solenoid. But check to make sure the ground or positive wire to the starter isn't just loose 1st. If not, take the starter off and have it checked out. The solenoid is a cheaper fix that getting a new starter. But you wont know until you do.
