Bought my 2005 new beetle turbo yesterday. When I drove it, got home, shut off, it made a sound it didn't make before, a humming sort of sound. I looked under the hood, it was so hot, heat actually felt when I opened the hood, no smoke, waited about any hour, looked again, still very hot, couldn't touch it, even the cover over the battery was hot. Is this normal, not a fast driver AT ALL. Please, should I worry about driving it again? Car in mint condition, not a scratch inside or out, very low miles of 28,400. Help me please.

Hi there,

Turbos do run hotter than normally aspirated engines to a degree, under bonnet temps tends to be a bit higher, but this sounds a bit excessive, I would get it checked over by a VW mechanic just to make sure all is ok, with out viewing first hand it is a bit hard to tell what is going on in this case.
